Day 21 I suck skipping!

I call it my tripping exercise. The rope goes under my feet maybe 20 times then hits my feet, sometime just catches it and then sling shoots it to the back of my head and today almost tore my nipple off! I tried everything, slower faster, jump higher, watched videos, nothing works. I just suck! I think I am too tall 6'4" to be doing skipping. Still 1000 skips took me 12 minutes. Not bad considering and got my heart rate up due to being so frustrated, so all's good.

PS my body would like to say thank you to Patrick for allowing me to only skip today. It really needed the break.

  1. I have a love hate relationship with skipping too my friend. You are not alone.

Some days are better than others depending on how much you shredded your muscles the day before.

Just get through them as best you can. I always just know it is better to be crap at them and do them every day then not do them.

  2. Dude... if I'm lucky the jump rope sessions take me 15 minutes, otherwise 18-20 minutes. 12 minutes is definitely pretty good time!

Usually when I hit myself after 20-30 jumps though it's usually because my arms are slowing down and I lost the pace, not sure if it's the same for others though.

  3. Ya my friend said it's because the signals from my brain telling my feet to jump takes time to get all the way down my body to my feet. Hahaha. Think he's right.

  5. Today I was way better. Averaged 80 skips before I tripped. Must have been tired.

  6. Brent, I too am all over the place with my skips. 20-30 is a good average of how many I can do before getting snagged up. Though on some days, I can sneak in a run of 50 or more without a tie-up. I find that tiredness and also my mental clarity seem to play a big part. When I was under immense emotional strain just a couple weeks back, there was one morning where I couldn't even get two skips to happen. I just had too much on my brain at the time. I threw in the towel, went on with my day & went back to the skips that night, where I was able to plow through them at a little better pace. Anyway, you're looking good. Keep up the great work.
